Residential Treatment for OCD

Image

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is best treated using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Therapy. ERP is a type of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Having OCD means that an individual becomes caught in a pattern of recurring thoughts and/or behaviors that are intrusive to daily living. At Spruce Mountain Inn, a therapist will work with a client suffering from OCD by gradually exposing the client to the triggers that prompt the compulsive behaviors and/or thoughts.

ERP is designed to break the OCD cycle by teaching the client new ways of responding to triggers. This can be a slow and difficult process. The therapist will work closely with a client to build tolerance to the distress that triggers the brain into forming obsessive thoughts and/or performing compulsive behaviors. Progress is made over time as the client resists the triggers and learns to respond in new ways with less anxiety and with a greater sense of control.

Residential treatment is an immersive, community-based approach that has the potential to be much more effective than treatment received in someone's typical living environment.

Testimonials

During my son’s stay at Spruce Mountain Inn, I can tell you that the staff was nothing short of INCREDIBLE. The Director, Assistant Director and Case Manager were my main points of communication and they were outstanding! All were highly clinically skilled and communicative and they followed through with everything that we asked and often took the initiative to offer help without our request.
