Our expansive group curriculum is at the heart of Spruce Mountain Inn’s treatment model, and includes a carefully designed array of therapeutic process-oriented groups, psycho-education and skills-based programming, arts and experiential offerings, and movement and exercise groups.  Group work is a necessary complement to individual treatment services in that it allows residents to work together with their peers on similar goals and to benefit from peer feedback and support. It also requires residents to build and practice effective social skills including assertive communication, conflict resolution, and asking for help.

Spruce Mountain currently offers more than 40 hours per week of group programming, and all residents are required to attend a minimum of 30 hours of combined individual and group treatment time. Our group schedule reflects our belief that wellness is holistically achieved, and that treating psychiatric diagnoses in a compartmentalized way does not offer the best chance for long-term health and growth. Residents will create a treatment schedule together with their Case Manager depending on clinical goals and individual treatment needs.
