Information for Professionals

Dear Referring Professionals,

Thank you for considering Spruce Mountain Inn among your choices for placement. With over 36 years in the industry, Spruce Mountain Inn is recognized as a mainstay in residential treatment for young adults. We serve individuals, aged 18-28, who struggle with mental health issues that impact mood and daily functioning. Our program is designed to provide residents with intensive support as they gain the skills needed for successful independent living.

While individually tailored assessments determine the specific needs of each resident, among the issues we address are:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Trauma
  • Substance abuse
  • Technology abuse

Treatment initially occurs in a small home-like setting and includes weekly meetings with members of their treatment team, services to assist in goal-setting, assistance with activities of daily living, psychiatric treatment, and on-site residential support. We offer an extremely robust and comprehensive weekly schedule of groups facilitated by 14+ skilled staff. Our week includes over 40 hours of structured activity. The program is also designed to help residents connect with the local community through volunteerism, education, employment, and recreation. Work outside of the Inn begins at six weeks in a wide and diverse field of placement options.

Spruce Mountain Inn residents can progress through a specially designed step down housing continuum that allows them gradual levels of independence while still in treatment. It is our experience that real-world interaction beyond traditional therapeutic and psychiatric services are of great benefit. Such experiences can provide opportunity to practice and hone the skills needed for navigating a successful, independent life.

Our program maintains an intentionally small census, and we typically provide a one to one resident to staff ratio, ensuring that residents are intensively supported by a team which includes:

  • Master’s-level Clinical Case Manager
  • Psychotherapist
  • Consulting Psychiatrist on site
  • Career & Education Development Coordinator
  • Support Worker
  • Addictions Counselor, as indicated

Spruce Mountain Inn recognizes that enrollment here represents a time of crisis for families and provides  support to parents in two ways – Parent Coaching and conference calls facilitated by the Clinical Case Manager. Parent Coaching is designed not only to help parents  understand the process of treatment, but also to help them address a variety of crucial parenting topics (e.g. boundary setting, individuation, self-care). These calls provide a forum for adult children and parents to work on healthy adult-to-adult communication and relationships. The Clinical Case Manager calls occur weekly and include the program participant  and their parents.

We strive for a thoughtful, comprehensive admissions process  and will work with you to support your client and family through the steps. Please give us a call with any questions. We’re happy to chat with you about your client and whether Spruce Mountain Inn is the right fit.
