Our Vermont Setting

The Washington County region of north-central Vermont is a beautiful, dynamic, and charming community known for it’s outstanding outdoor recreation, diverse cultural and arts resources, picturesque wilderness and farmland, and a sophisticated food & restaurant scene.Spruce Mountain Inn is located 10 minutes outside Vermont’s capital, Montpelier 1Montpelier, which is home to the New England Culinary Institute, Vermont College of Fine Arts, a host of political and non-profit organizations, several museums, movie theaters, and a wealth of wonderful shopping and dining options.

Our programming is designed to take advantage of the scenic wilderness Montpelierof our region as well as the commercial, social and cultural offerings available to us. Residents can be found hitting the slopes at Bolton Valley, taking in live music at one of Montpelier’s many venues, hiking in Groton State Park, grabbing gourmet pizza at Positive Pie, or swimming in one our many pristine lakes and ponds. All residents are encouraged to engage with the community through volunteerism, recreation, school, and the arts as a way of building supports and practicing skills for independent living.
